  Lofty Laundry

    suspended hamper system

This design was inspired by frustrations with the conventional floor model laundry hamper. Hampers are traditionally hidden or tucked away in the corner of a room not to be seen. The Lofty Laundry hamper is designed to  be a part of the space in which it hangs, as a aesthetic feature as opposed to something to be hidden.

Material Prototypes

Aluminum and steel were tested in early prototypes of the Lofty Laundry. The aluminum frame (left) warped after five days of laundry. After this observation, sheet steel was used for the subsequent prototype (right).

The user simply removes the laundry bag from the rack and carried their dirty clothes to the washing machine.
